The art of WWOOF
One of the cool things you can do while having a gap year in New Zealand is WWOOF. This is an experience that will teach what is involved to grow produce and animals in an organic way. At the same time, you get free food and acommodation. How sweet does that sound?
Usually WOOFers works for 4 to 6 hours a day. Common activities include: sowing seed, making compost, gardening, planting, cutting wood, weeding, harvesting, packing, milking, feeding, fencing, making mud-bricks, wine making, cheese making and bread making.
All you need to do that is buy a WWOOF card, which you can do from us, register online and start looking for hosts. Doesn’t get any easier than that.
So even though you are not getting paid for it, it’s like a job and can provide you with some local experience! Why not give it a go?
